Nedeljkovic was acquired by the Red Wings from the Hurricanes in exchange for the rights to Jonathan Bernier and a 2021 third-round pick Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Nedeljkovic put together a solid first full season in the NHL in which he posted a 15-5-3 record with a 1.90 GAA and three shutouts. The Ohio native will need a new contract, as he will be a restricted free agent and could cost the Wings upward of $3-4 million annually. Nedeljkovic will likely split the starts with Thomas Greiss to begin the year but could be in line to take over as the preferred No. 1 option with a strong start.
