Donato (undisclosed) will not be issued a qualifying offer by San Jose and will become an unrestricted free agent, Greg Wyshynski of ESPN.com reports.

Considering Donato has reached the 20-point mark in back-to-back seasons, it's a little surprising to see the Sharks give up his rights, though a qualifying offer for the winger would have eaten up $2.15 million of the club's approximately $9.5 million in cap space. It shouldn't take long for Donato to find a landing spot where he figures to take on a middle-six role.
