Senators' Mike Hoffman: Receives qualifying offer from Senators

Hoffman was tendered a qualifying offer from the Senators on Monday.

With the hiring of Guy Boucher as the Senators new head coach, Hoffman's chances of being retained by the team was increased due to a former relationship between the two. Those intentions became even more clear Monday, as the qualifying offer means the team can match any offer Hoffman sees on the free agent market. The 26-year-old winger notched career-highs of 29 goals and 30 assists during the 2015-16 campaign, and it appears he'll likely get the opportunity to build on that progress with the Senators for at least another year.
