Viel was recalled by San Jose on Saturday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Although Viel's been recalled, he isn't expected to be in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Washington. Viel has yet to crack San Jose's lineup this season.
