Viel was recalled from AHL San Jose on Sunday.
Viel is getting another promotion just for depth purposes, as he's not expected to see a lot of playing time. He's been promoted and demoted several times already, but he's yet to make his debut with the Sharks this season. He made 11 appearances in 2020-21 but failed to record a point.
