Ward played with a minor shoulder injury this season -- recently electing to have it surgically repaired -- but is expected to be ready for the start of the 2017-18 campaign, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Ward's shoulder injury might help explain why he had something of a down season in 2016-17. While he's never been a truly prolific scorer, the 36-year-old's 29 points this season represent his lowest total since 2011-12 -- if you don't count the 2012-13 campaign, when he played just 39 games. It's also a massive drop-off from last season's 43 points in only one more game played. Ward will look to rehab and mount a comeback season once training camp opens in the fall.
