  • Hutchinson was reassigned to AHL Toronto on Friday. With the Maple Leafs' season coming to a close, Hutchinson no longer needs to provide them with depth in the crease and instead will likely be the top goalie for the Marlies in their respective postseason run. The Ontario native registered a 16-8-5 record over 31 appearances in the minors while posting a 2.85 GAA and .909 save percentage.

  • Maple Leafs' Michael Hutchinson: Back with team
    By RotoWire Staff

Hutchinson (personal) participated in Monday's morning skate, Kristen Shilton of TSN.ca reports. Hutchinson missed Game 2 following the birth of his child. The fact that he's back with the team suggests he'll back up Frederik Andersen for Monday's Game 3 against the Bruins.

  • Hutchinson (personal) wasn't present at Saturday's morning skate, which suggests he won't be in the lineup for Saturday's Game 2, Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports. Hutchinson is still away from the team following the birth of his child, so Garret Sparks will once again back up Frederik Andersen against the Bruins on Saturday.

  • Hutchinson (personal) is not expected to be available for Game 1 versus host Boston on Thursday, Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com reports. Hutchinson's wife is expected to give birth soon, so the Maple Leafs called up Garret Sparks from AHL Toronto ahead of the playoff opener. At least we now know the pecking order among Toronto goalies behind No. 1 Frederik Andersen as the Buds get set to take on a team that knocked them out of the playoffs in this same round last year.

  • Hutchinson is away from the team due to personal reasons, and it has yet to be determined whether he'll travel to Boston for Game 1 of the conference quarterfinals Thursday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports. The Maple Leafs have four players on the active roster ahead of the playoff opener -- including Garret Sparks, who has been working extensively with the goalie coaches to try to invigorate his game -- so it'll be interesting to see who will be the primary insurance option for Frederik Andersen in the playoffs. With service time between the Panthers and Leafs, Hutchinson posted a 3-4-2 record, 3.27 GAA and .887 save percentage through nine games in the regular season.
