  • Demers recorded two assists to extend his point streak to four games during Thursday's 5-4 loss to Buffalo. The 28-year-old defenseman is having a nice offensive run to start the year with two goals, eight points and 30 shots through 14 games. Demers has logged a career-high 2:29 on the power play and is well on his way to his best offensive season. He also moves the fantasy needle in the peripheral categories, so the first-year Coyote is worth a look in most settings.

  • Demers recorded an assist and logged 22:45 of ice time (5:01 with the man advantage) during Thursday's 5-4 loss to Dallas. Demers has found himself on the No. 1 power-play unit of late, and while Thursday's helper didn't come with the man advantage, that development is a clear boost to his fantasy outlook. He's now registered a point and a minor penalty in three consecutive games, and his 17 shots, 11 hits and 11 blocked shots are respectable peripheral marks. Demers offers a serviceable cross-category profile in depper settings.

  • Coyotes' Jason Demers: Dealt to Arizona
    By RotoWire Staff

Demers was traded to the Coyotes on Saturday, with forward Jamie McGinn moving to the Panthers, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports. This move gives the 'Yotes a stable presence on the back line, and it means prized sophomore Jakob Chychrun (knee) won't have to rush in his recovery. Demers added nine goals and 19 assists for the Panthers last season, albeit with a career-worst minus-14 rating. Don't expect that latter figure to improve given that there's so much youth in the desert, but fantasy owners investing in Demers should know that he's capable of working on the power play and delivering decent totals in hits and blocked shots.

  • The Panthers elected to leave Demers available for Wednesday's expansion draft, TSN reports. Demers' exclusion from the list is a bit of a surprise given his recent long-term deal with the Panthers. However, the club elected to retain the services of four other defensemen instead. It's not guaranteed he will be headed to Vegas, but he's one of the top names made available for the Golden Knights in the draft and is coming off a 28-point season for Florida.

  • Demers went a whopping minus-5 with one shot, three blocks and two giveaways in Thursday's 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Canadiens. Well, that's about as poor a performance as you can deliver, being on the ice for almost all the opposition's goals; his partner on defense, Keith Yandle, went minus-4 himself. Demers has delivered a few major defensive duds this year, with the most recent one a minus-4 effort March 7 against the Rangers. Although the 28-year-old has set a new career mark with nine goals, his composite production (27 points, minus-13) doesn't move the needle in most fantasy formats.
