Kassian has announced the end of his playing career. Kassian recorded two goals, 50 PIM and 32 hits in 51 contests with the Coyotes last season. The 32-year-old forward logged 661 NHL games with Buffalo, Vancouver, Edmonton and Arizona over the course of his career, finishing with 92 goals, 203 points, 913 PIM and 1,360 hits. He also scored six goals and nine points in 45 career playoff appearances.... See More ... See Less

Zack Kassian: Released from PTO
The Ducks let Kassian go from his professional tryout agreement Sunday. Kassian scored just two goals in 51 games with Arizona last year and will now be a free agent entering the 2023-24 campaign. He has 661 games of NHL experience and could add a veteran presence to a team's bottom six at some point this season.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Zack Kassian: Agrees to PTO with Ducks
Kassian signed a professional tryout agreement with Anaheim on Thursday. Kassian had two goals, 50 PIM and 32 hits in 51 contests with Arizona in 2022-23. He might earn a spot on the Ducks' Opening Night roster as a member of their fourth line, but it wouldn't be surprising if he ultimately signs a two-way contract and starts the campaign in the AHL.... Zack Kassian: Lands on unconditional waivers
Kassian (upper body) was placed on unconditional waivers by Arizona on Tuesday for the purpose of a buyout, Chris Johnston of TSN reports. Kassian is presumably healthy now after sitting out the final 12 games of the 2022-23 season due to an upper-body issue. He will become an unrestricted free agent after being bought out of the last season of his four-year, $12.8 million contract. The 32-year-old winger collected two goals, 50 PIM and 32 hits in 51 appearances with the Coyotes during the 2022-23 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Out Monday
Kassian (upper body) will not suit up Monday against the Oilers, Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports reports. Kassian has now missed five consecutive games and there's been little information on when he's expected to return. The veteran winger can be considered out indefinitely until an update is available.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Won't play Sunday
Kassian (upper body) is out Sunday against the Avalanche. It's the fourth consecutive game that Kassian's missed. The 32-year-old winger has two goals in 51 contests this season. Rookies Nathan Smith and Milos Kelemen will round out Arizona's fourth line in Kassian's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Unavailable Friday
Kassian (upper body) will not suit up Friday against Colorado, per the NHL's media site. Kassian will miss a third straight contest and there's been little update on when he's expected to return. The veteran winger has just two goals in 51 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Still shelved Wednesday
Kassian (upper body) will remain out of action versus Edmonton on Wednesday, Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports reports. Kassian has tallied a paltry two points in 51 games this season while averaging 9:09 of ice time. As such, the 32-year-old veteran's absence is unlikely to impact the majority of fantasy players. Milos Kelemen is poised to step into a fourth-line role with Kassian unavailable.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Out of action Tuesday
Kassian (upper body) won't play Tuesday versus the Jets. Kassian was announced as a scratch just after warmups started. It's unclear when the 32-year-old sustained the injury, but it'll cost him at least one game and likely more, as the Coyotes play in Edmonton on Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Ends lengthy slump
Kassian scored a goal in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Devils. Kassian ended a 37-game point drought with his second-period tally. The 32-year-old needed to show something on offense -- the Coyotes acquired Brett Ritchie from the Flames at the trade deadline, which could lead to Kassian slipping back into a healthy scratch role. The veteran winger has two goals, 22 shots on net, 36 PIM, 31 hits and a minus-15 rating through 44 appearances, exclusively playing on the fourth line.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: No offense in sight
Kassian's point drought reached 37 games in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Hurricanes. In that span, Kassian has missed 19 games to injuries and scratches. He's picked up 27 PIM, 21 hits, 16 shots on goal and a minus-11 rating over those scoreless appearances. The 32-year-old winger remains stuck on one goal and no assists through 43 outings overall. His playing time should solidify a bit down the stretch, but he's highly unlikely to make an impact in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Still in cold spell
Kassian hasn't registered a point in his last 27 games. He's been scratched on occasion, but Kassian played in 14 of the Coyotes' 15 games in January. Kassian mustered just seven shots on goal, four hits, four blocked shots and a minus-1 rating while averaging 8:35 of ice time this month -- he's usually good for physical play if nothing else. Liam O'Brien (hand) could return in mid-February, and if the Coyotes are mostly healthy at that point, Kassian could become a regular healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: No offense since return
Kassian has not recorded a point since returning from a lower-body injury Nov. 23. The physical winger has 11 hits and 21 PIM in 10 contests in that span, but he's also been scratched seven times over that stretch. Kassian simply isn't an effective depth scorer for the Coyotes, though he should have a fairly clear path to playing time while Matias Maccelli (lower body) is out. Kassian is stuck on one goal while adding 24 hits, 34 PIM, 10 shots on goal and a minus-9 rating through 18 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Ready to rock
Kassian (lower body) will be back in the lineup Wednesday against Carolina, Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports reports. Kassian, who has missed the past nine games, will return sooner than expected. He has one goal, 13 PIM and 13 hits in eight appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Moves to IR
Kassian (lower body) was moved to injured reserve Monday, Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports reports. Kassian, who has been out since Oct. 30, is eligible to be activated when he's ready to return. However, he isn't expected to play Monday against Nashville.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Won't play Thursday
Kassian (lower body) will miss Thursday's game against Dallas, Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports. Kassian also won't join the Coyotes' on their upcoming five-game Eastern road trip. Arizona is likely to call up a forward before the road trip, but for Thursday's game, the Coyotes are expected to dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards. That will keep Dysin Mayo in the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Late scratch Tuesday
Kassian (lower body) won't play Tuesday versus the Panthers and is considered day-to-day. Kassian was announced as a scratch just before puck drop. Dysin Mayo will draw into the lineup as a seventh defenseman Tuesday, but the Coyotes will likely make a move for a forward if Kassian has to miss any additional time.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Gets on scoresheet Tuesday
Kassian scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Blue Jackets. Kassian got his first point as a Coyote with a wraparound goal in the first period. The 31-year-old winger has added 10 hits, five shots on net, nine PIM and a minus-4 rating. He's a prototypical fourth-liner, so Kassian shouldn't be expected to put up much offense on a team likely to struggle to fill the net.... See More ... See Less -
Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Newest member of Coyotes
The Oilers traded Kassian, the 29th overall selection in this year's Entry Draft and future second (2025) and third round (2024) picks to the Coyotes on Thursday in exchange for the 32nd overall pick, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. The Oilers paid a hefty price in order to dump Kassian and his $3.2 million cap hit each of the next two seasons on the asset-collecting Coyotes. Kassian spent some time playing in Edmonton's top-six a year ago, but he's always been best suited for a depth role. He managed just six goals and 19 points in 58 games for the Oilers last season and it's difficult to believe those numbers will improve on an Arizona squad with considerably less overall talent. Kassian will be 32 years of age next January and can be ignored in all fantasy leagues this coming fall.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Zack Kassian: Chips in with assist
Kassian provided an assist, four hits and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Avalanche in Game 1. Kassian didn't get on the scoresheet in any of the last seven games. He snapped the slump by setting up a Derek Ryan tally in the third period Tuesday. Through 13 playoff contests, Kassian has three points, 14 shots, 41 hits and a plus-1 rating while playing exclusively in a fourth-line role.... See More ... See Less
