  • Chris VandeVelde: Released from professional tryout
    By RotoWire Staff

VandeVelde was released from his professional tryout agreement with the Senators on Tuesday. VandeVelde played in 81 games last season for the Flyers, but he was only able to tally six goals and nine helpers while averaging 11:34 of ice time. At this point, it's unclear what's next for the 30-year-old, as he may have to settle for an AHL-only contract or head overseas if he wants to continue playing.

  • VandeVelde signed a professional tryout agreement with Ottawa on Monday, Ian Mendes of TSN reports. Having played nearly every game for the Flyers over the past three seasons, VandeVelde will have a shot to make the Sens in a similar bottom-six role that he filled in Philadelphia. Though he's far from the most offensively gifted player in the league, VandeVelde was able to produce 15, 14 and 15 points in the past three seasons while logging at least 114 hits in each. Unlike many of the other players agreeing to PTOs around the league, VandeVelde seems to have a realistic shot of landing on an Opening Night roster.

  • Flyers' Chris VandeVelde: Won't play Sunday
    By RotoWire Staff

VandeVelde won't be in the lineup for Sunday's game against Carolina, Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post reports. The winger will miss his first game of the year in the last contest of the season. With no games remaining, VandeVelde's concludes his campaign with just 15 points in 81 games.

  • VandeVelde has failed to register a point in each of his past eight games. The 29-year-old pivot has just one goal, two points and 35 shots through his past 44 games and remains completely off the fantasy radar. After all, he's averaged just 11:40 of ice time per outing during that stretch and is locked into a depth role.

  • VandeVelde played just 7:57 and did not register a shot, hit or blocked shot against Florida on Thursday. VandeVelde entered the game averaging 13:18 of ice time through his previous five games, but the addition of Valtteri Filppula will likely continue to cut into VandeVelde's playing time. The minute hit is warranted, too. The 29-year-old pivot has just a single assist through his past 34 games, after all. VandeVelde is completely off the fantasy radar.
