Lashoff was among several players waived by the Red Wings on Sunday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. An undrafted defenseman, Lashoff has only appeared in 16 NHL games since the 2014-15 season and injuries aren't to blame. We doubt the 27-year-old will get scooped up by another club, so expect him to rejoin AHL Grand Rapids if he does, indeed, clear waivers.
Lashoff signed on the dotted line with the Red Wings on a two-year, two-way contract extension, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Lashoff hasn't seen a ton of action at the top level over his career and has dressed for just five games (all in 2016-17) over the last two seasons. The big-bodied blueliner doesn't provide a ton of upside on the offensive end of the ice and shouldn't figure into the fantasy mix as the 2017-18 season approaches.
Lashoff received a qualifying offer from the Red Wings on Monday, MLive.com reports. Detroit can ill afford to do away with experienced options on its blue line, even if it means retaining a guy like Lashoff, who turns 27 years old in July and has primarily toiled in the minors.
Lashoff was sent back to the minors Friday, TSN reports. Lashoff's only played in five games with the Red Wings this season, and it appears that the team is content with Robbie Russo as the sixth defenseman for the time being.
Lashoff was reassigned to the minors Wednesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Lashoff has been out of the lineup for the Red Wings' previous five outings due to injury as well as being a healthy scratch. With Detroit hoping to get back some guys from injured reserve in the coming weeks, the blueliner was the odd man out and figures to spent the majority of the year with Grand Rapids barring another rash of injuries.
