  • Gardiner picked up three assists while adding five blocked shots and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Senators. With Morgan Rielly (upper body) in the press box, Gardiner stepped up to fill the offensive void on the blue line for the Leafs, giving him 24 points (three goals, 21 assists) in 48 games on the season. It's his first multi-point performance since Dec. 20, though, and with Rielly likely not out of action for long, Gardiner should return to a supporting role very soon.

  • Gardiner had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to Columbus on Wednesday. Goals have never been a big part of Gardiner's game, but assists should be coming more consistently given Toronto's high-powered attack. He has just three assists in December, however, and that needs to change quickly.

  • Gardiner dished out two power-play helpers in Thursday's 6-4 win over Edmonton. Gardiner took advantage of a weak Edmonton penalty kill that came in at a league-worst 73.2 percent. The offensively gifted blueliner has 13 points in 27 games, with six of those coming on the power play.

  • Gardiner scored his second goal of the season Saturday in a 4-2 loss to the Capitals. Much more was expected of Gardiner this year, at least from a fantasy perspective. Instead of building on his 43-point, high-water mark from last season, Gardiner has taken a bit of a step back. He's still on pace to finish in the mid-30 point range, but that's not where you drafted him. Hopefully, his three points in his last two games are the start of an offensive uptick.

  • Gardiner dished out a pair of assists in Friday's victory over the Hurricanes. Those are the first points in six games for Gardiner, who hasn't scored since the second game of the season. He logs monstrous minutes, but Gardiner's fantasy value lies in his power-play time, as he's picked up almost half his points this season with the man advantage. The 27-year-old isn't a massive offensive contributor, but he jumps into the rush often and possesses enough skill to warrant a look in deep leagues.
