Graovac was assigned to AHL Manitoba on Tuesday, Thomas Drance of The Athletic Vancouver reports. The Canucks' typical AHL affiliate is in Utica, but keeping players in Canada cuts the quarantine time in half. As a result, Graovac is expected to spend a bulk of the year with AHL Manitoba. The 27-year-old has played 70 NHL games in his career, posting 11 points.

The Canucks waived Graovac on Monday. Graovac played eight games for Vancouver in 2019-20, scoring a pair of goals. A lower-body injury prevented him from seeing the ice more, but he will be an option for the Canucks to call up if needed.

Graovac signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks on Sunday. Graovac lost most of the 2019-20 season due to a lower-body injury. He nevertheless managed to play eight games for the Canucks (two goals) and another 11 with AHL Utica (two goals, one assist). The 27-year-old center is a long-shot to make the NHL roster in the upcoming season.

Graovac (lower body) started skating Saturday. Graovac hasn't played since Dec. 1, and he remains on IR for the time being. He's still likely a bit away from getting back into game form, and his next step will be participating in practice. Graovac will likely work in the bottom six when he's back in the lineup.
