  • McNeill signed a one-year, two-way contract Monday with the Stars. McNeill appeared in just one game for Dallas last season, as he spent majority of the 2016-17 campaign in the AHL. In 79 AHL contests, he recorded a total of 39 points. McNeill could potentially see a larger role in the NHL this coming season, but he'll likely end up floating back and forth between the two leagues given the two-way nature of the deal.

McNeill was reassigned to AHL Texas on Sunday. McNeill heading to the minors was a foregone conclusion with Dallas missing the playoffs and its regular season expired. The depth pivot has only played in two NHL games this early in his career -- one as a Blackhawk in 2015-16, and his debut with the Stars on Saturday, when he logged 13:49 of ice time with one shot as well as a block.

McNeill has been recalled from AHL Texas. McNeill receives his first call-up to Dallas since being traded from Chicago at the trade deadline and does so just in time for the team's final game of the season Saturday against the Avalanche. The 24-year-old has combined for 37 points between two teams at the AHL level this season and is more of a player to watch for next season than one to plug in for the regular-season finale.

  • Stars' Mark McNeill: Heads to Dallas
    By RotoWire Staff

McNeill was traded to Dallas from Chicago along with a conditional fourth round pick in exchange for defenseman Johnny Oduya on Tuesday. The 24-year-old center has not played in game with the big club yet this season, and he's only played one NHL game in his three-year career. McNeill has six goals and 22 assists with AHL Rockford this season, and he will likely report to the AHL's Texas Stars after the trade is completed.

  • Blackhawks' Mark McNeill: Placed on waivers
    By RotoWire Staff

McNeill was waived Monday for the purpose of reassignment, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports. McNeill made his NHL debut last season, but failed to appear in another contest. In that lone game, the 23-year-old was on the ice for 12:44 and logged just three hits. Drafted 18th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft, the 23-year-old has yet to make the type of impact you would expect from a first-round pick. The center has reached the 40-point mark in each of the previous two AHL campaigns and could go for the three-peat this year as he will probably spend the majority of the season in the minors.
