  • Hurricanes' Raffi Torres: Will join Carolina on PTO
    By RotoWire Staff

Torres will attend training camp with Carolina on a PTO agreement, Ben Pope of The News Observer reports. Having played 635 NHL games over his career with Vancouver, Phoenix, and San Jose, Torres has an abundance of hockey acumen he could offer a team. However, over the past four seasons, the left wingman has appeared in only 44 games due to injuries and suspensions. Now at 35 years old, the veteran has another shot to prove he belongs on an NHL team, but given his recent history of mental and physical difficulties, he figures to be a longshot to make the Opening Night roster.

An unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, Torres is merely another piece in the Maple Leafs' plan to free up cap space for 2016-17.

  • Sharks' Raffi Torres: Clears waivers Saturday
    By RotoWire Staff

Torres (knee) has cleared waivers, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports. Torres is no longer listed on the Sharks' active roster, but by clearing waivers, he can now be assigned to the minors. Considering that Torres was suspended for 41 games earlier in preseason and is dealing with a knee injury, it's no wonder that other teams weren't interested in the embattled forward's services off the waiver wire.
