  • Murray yielded four goals on 31 shots in a 4-3 loss to the Canadiens in Game 3. The Penguins spotted Murray a 3-1 lead at one point, but three unanswered tallies, including Jeff Petry's sharp-angled game-winner, sunk the 26-year-old goalie in a pivotal Game 3. He had allowed four total goals in the previous two contests. With the season on the line, it's unclear if head coach Mike Sullivan will ride with Murray or turn to Tristan Jarry for Friday's must-win Game 4.

  • Murray is starting Game 3 on Wednesday against Montreal. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has had a great start to the postseason, turning aside 58 of 62 shots across the first two games. Murray only allowed a single goal in Game 2, which helped the Penguins even the series 1-1, so they'll be looking to him to be a stabilizing force again as they push for a series lead against the 12th-seeded Canadiens.

  • Murray stopped 26 of 27 shots in a 3-1 win over the Canadiens in Monday's Game 2. Murray operated on tight margins for much of the game, as he had to protect a 1-0 lead for 50 minutes before Jason Zucker's insurance tally in the third. Jesperi Kotkaniemi spoiled the shutout late, but Murray got the all-important win to tie the series at one game apiece. The 26-year-old netminder has allowed four goals on 62 shots through the first two games of the postseason. He's shown enough to likely get the nod for Game 3 on Wednesday.

  • Murray will defend the cage against the Habs on Monday, Josh Getzoff of PensTV reports. Murray made 32 saves in Saturday's overtime defeat to the Habs. The Thunder Bay native apparently showed the coaching staff enough to warrant another kick at the can versus Montreal. Still, if Murray stumbles at any point along the way, he figures to see Tristan Jarry coming in to replace him.

  • Murray will defend the blue paint during Saturday's Game 1 against Montreal. Murray was outplayed by Tristan Jarry during the regular season, but it's not exactly shocking that the Penguins have decided to roll with the netminder that already has two Stanley Cup championships to his name for Game 1. He'll attempt to pick up his first win of the postseason in a matchup with a Montreal squad that averaged 2.93 goals per game during the regular season, 19th in the NHL.
