  • Jets' Nicolas Petan: AHL Player of the Week
    By RotoWire Staff

Petan was announced as the AHL Player of the Week on Monday. Petan earned this distinction by compiling a pair of goals and six helpers in just three games last week for AHL Manitoba. The Jets aren't exactly struggling to put pucks in the back of the net (3.44 per game), but the bottom-six role players should probably consider themselves on notice, as it won't be long before coach Paul Maurice gives Petan another look considering how well he is performing.

  • Jets' Nicolas Petan: Demoted Wednesday
    By RotoWire Staff

Petan was reassigned to AHL Manitoba on Wednesday. The 22-year-old has found the 2017-18 season to be a struggle, going scoreless in the six games he's played. While Petan has been given chances to produce on the team's No. 1 power-play unit, his diminutive stature and perimeter style of play will make it difficult for him to contribute in a fourth-line role -- where he's been deployed for a vast majority of the last two campaigns by head coach Paul Maurice. The Jets will hope the talented Petan will better round out his game during what could be a lengthy stint in the minors.

  • Jets' Nicolas Petan: Scoreless through six games
    By RotoWire Staff

Petan has failed to register a point in six outings this season. Petan's inability to write his name on the scoresheet comes despite the fact he continues to get opportunities on the power play, where he is averaging 1:14 of ice time. Additionally, the 22-year-old has only managed to record six shots on goal, which is certainly a red flag for fantasy owners. It is hard to imagine coach Paul Maurice won't look elsewhere for help with the man advantage if the British Columbia native doesn't earn a point soon.

  • Jets' Nicolas Petan: Expected back in lineup
    By RotoWire Staff

Petan will likely suit up against the Islanders on Thursday after serving as a healthy scratch in five of the Jets' last six contests, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Petan will likely be replacing Shawn Matthias (undisclosed), who's considered questionable to play. If both players crack the lineup, Chris Thorburn would be the odds-on favorite to be scratched. Petan's recent assignment to the press box came after he failed to secure a point in 16 consecutive appearances, going minus-9 with only 17 shots on net during that stretch.

  • Jets' Nicolas Petan: Pointless in last 13 outings
    By RotoWire Staff

Petan can't seem to buy a point, as he has been held off the scoresheet in 13 consecutive games. Despite averaging a mere 9:42 of ice time during his drought, Petan continues to log time with the man advantage -- 1:59 per night over that stretch. Given his role as a power-play specialist, it certainly will be disappointing to fantasy owners to see his slump drag on. If the center can't figure out how to start scoring, coach Paul Maurice will need to consider other options on his special teams unit.
