MacInnis was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Saturday. MacInnis played two out of three games during his most recent stint with the big club. The 23-year-old will head back to Cleveland to get some regular playing time, but should be near the top of the call-up list when the Blue Jackets need forward depth.
MacInnis was recalled from AHL Cleveland on Monday. MacInnis appeared in seven NHL contests in December and January, recording one assist and 11 shots in the process. With Alexander Wennberg (upper body) hitting injured reserve, MacInnis should be in line for a regular role in the bottom six.
Columbus sent MacInnis to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday. The Blue Jackets activated Cam Atkinson (ankle) off injured reserve in a corresponding move, so they're no longer in need of MacInnis' services on the wing. The 23-year-old collected one assist in five games during his most recent stay with the big club.
Columbus promoted MacInnis from the minors Thursday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports. The Blue Jackets are currently dealing with a ton of long-term injuries up front, so MacInnis will round out the team's depth at forward for the foreseeable future. The 23-year-old American has racked up 15 points in 28 AHL appearances this season.
MacInnis was demoted to AHL Cleveland on Monday. MacInnis appeared in the last two games with Columbus but failed to register a point. The 23-year-old winger could rejoin the team after the holiday break if some of the team's injured forwards still aren't ready to return.
