Gaudreau skated just 9:58 in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings, finishing with zero points on two shots and a minus-1 rating. Gaudreau has been in and out of the lineup over the last few weeks. The 25-year-old Quebec native didn't miss a game between Nov. 1 and Jan. 10, but he's been a healthy scratch 11 times in the past 26 games. With just four points on the season, Gaudreau's fantasy value remains minimal at best.
Gaudreau notched just his fourth point of the season with an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Coyotes. Gaudreau has long been one of the better performers at the AHL level, but the Preds just haven't put him in a position to excel offensively with the big club. He continues to skate on the fourth line, averaging just 8:59 in ice time, and he was a healthy scratch twice in January. Gaudreau's got talent to burn, but an offensive breakout does not appear imminent until he gets promoted to more of a scoring role.
Gaudreau notched his third goal of the season in Monday's 6-3 win over the Capitals. Even with the injuries the Predators have suffered this season, Gaudreau's ice time remains limited, as he's averaging just 8:28 per game on the team's fourth line. Despite the offensive flair he's shown at the AHL level over the years, the Preds are obviously intent on bringing Gaudreau along slowly. He remains a long-term fantasy play at this point.
Gaudreau posted zeros across the board for the second consecutive game in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Flyers, and saw ice time of just 8:02. Before joining the Preds on a full-time basis this season, Gaudreau had been one of their better players at the AHL level, cracking the 40-point plateau in three consecutive seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals. However, the team continues to bring him along slowly, giving him limited minutes centering the fourth line. Now with just a pair of goals in 27 games this season, Gaudreau won't see any real fantasy value until the Preds decide to move him up to a top-six role, where he can make better use of his offensive skills.
Gaudreau skated a season-low 6:33 in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Bruins. This was just the fifth time in the lineup for Gaudreau this season, following a stretch where he sat out nine of the first 11 games as a healthy scratch. Gaudreau has oodles of offensive talent (43 points in 54 games last year with AHL Milwaukee), so one has to wonder exactly what the Preds are thinking here, keeping him stapled to the bench when he could be seeing a lot more ice time playing in the minors. Either way, he is obviously not worthy of any fantasy attention at the present time.
