  • Karlsson signed a three-year, $6 million contract with the Sharks on Friday. Karlsson isn't known for his offensive production, as he's only tallied 65 points in 185 career NHL contests, but he's a penalty-killing specialist for the Sharks that can be counted on to chip in around 20 points on a yearly basis. The right-handed Swede is an important member of San Jose's bottom-six forward group, but his meager offensive production keeps him off the fantasy radar in most formats.

  • Karlsson scored the game-winner in overtime against the Oilers on Wednesday in Game 1. Karlsson made his second shot of the game count, stunning the crowd in the first-ever playoff game at Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton. He managed just 11 goals and 22 points during the regular season. Despite the heroics in Game 1 the right winger isn't a recommended option for DFS players.

  • Sharks' Melker Karlsson: Back in lineup Tuesday
    By RotoWire Staff

Karlsson (lower body) will rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers, CSN Bay Area reports. Karlsson hasn't played since March 11, but returns at a key point with a plethora of other forwards unavailable for Tuesday's tilt. He will reportedly flank Patrick Marleau and Mikkel Boedker on the second line during the tilt, but doesn't provide a ton of fantasy upside from a season-long perspective. He does serve as a sneaky daily option with his potential for a fair amount of ice time, but isn't guaranteed a spot on the man advantage.

  • Karlsson (lower body) is a scratch for Friday's contest in Dallas. It seemed unlikely that Karlsson would be able to suit up and, indeed, he will take at least one more game to get healthy prior to making his return. Marcus Sorensen is a good candidate for more ice time Friday in Karlsson's place.

  • Karlsson (lower body) is questionable for Friday's game against the Stars, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Despite the questionable tag, Karlsson seems pessimistic about his chances of drawing into the next contest, adding he'd likely need to get in a practice or two beforehand. More information should be released on this situation around warmups.
