  • MacDermid was traded by the Kraken to the Avalanche in exchange for a 2023 fourth-round pick on Tuesday, PuckPedia reports. MacDermid appeared in 28 games with the Kings last season, picking up four points while posting a minus-14 rating. The 6-foot-5 blueliner will likely serve as a rotational, bottom-pairing option for Colorado in 2021-22.

  • MacDermid was selected by Seattle from Los Angeles in Wednesday's 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. While MacDermid only appeared in 28 games for the Kings last year, he should at least challenge for a spot in the lineup heading into Opening Night. Even if he does play all 82 games for the Kraken, the 27-year-old blueliner's offensive ceiling is likely in the 10-15 point range, which makes him a low-end fantasy option at best.

  • MacDermid and the Kings had a tough time in the West Division, as the gritty forward posted a minus-14 in just 28 games. MacDermid had to miss games because of COVID protocols and never really got going in 2020-21, as his side struggled to prevent goals throughout the year. His value on offense is virtually nonexistent, so unless your league counts hits, there really isn't any reason to look his way in 2021-22.

  • MacDermid's lone contribution to the stat sheet was a first period fight in a 2-1 loss to San Jose on Monday. With only 10:29 of ice time in the loss, MacDermid just doesn't get enough time to really make himself a contributor in fantasy formats. He picked up no hits or blocked shots in this game, so unless your league counts PIMs, this game didn't help anything. In most cases, that'll be the norm for MacDermid, giving him very limited value.

  • MacDermid scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Avalanche. MacDermid picked up just his second goal and fourth point in 16 games with his third-period tally. The 26-year-old blueliner has added 12 shots on net, 25 hits, 21 blocked shots and 14 PIM in a limited role. MacDermid is likely to stay in the lineup while Olli Maatta is in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol.
