Kings general manager Rob Blake announced that the team will not re-sign Brodzinski, making him an unrestricted free agent July 1, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports. Brodzinski was injured during the preseason in 2018 and didn't make his NHL season debut until late February. He scored two goals and three assists in 13 NHL games during the 2018-19 campaign. Brodzinski will turn 26 later this week and could be an interesting depth signing this offseason.
Brodzinski scored his second goal of the year in Monday's 3-0 win over the Flames. The Kings held a nervy 1-0 lead for over 50 minutes before Brodzinski doubled the advantage. The fourth-line winger has three points in 10 games this season, although he's had nine of his 16 hits in his last two appearances.
Brodzinski lit the lamp in Monday's shootout loss to the Lightning. He made his season debut after missing the first 61 games due to a shoulder injury. The sample size is small on Brodzinski since he has just eight points in 41 career games before this campaign, but adding a scoring touch in his first outing back is a good sign. However, the 25-year-old played just 10:09, which will make this effort difficult to replicate.
Brodzinski (shoulder) has been recalled from his conditioning stint and activated off of injured reserve, per the NHL media site. Brodzinski's activation from injured reserve doesn't guarantee he will draw into the lineup, but he will at least be available for the Kings should he be needed. The team's trade of Carl Hagelin could provide more openings for Brodzinski -- who has yet to play in the NHL this season -- to draw in, but he remains off the fantasy radar in the vast majority of leagues.
Brodzinski (shoulder) was sent to AHL Ontario for a conditioning assignment Thursday. The Minnesota native hasn't played a game this season after getting injured during training camp, but will try to work up to game shape in the minors. Last campaign, Brodzinski recorded four goals and two assists over 35 contests, so don't expect to see a world-beating player when he does return to the Los Angeles lineup.
