Saros stopped 20 of 21 shots after replacing Pekka Rinne in a 5-1 loss to Dallas on Wednesday. Despite the strong outing, Saros is unlikely to stay in the crease passed Wednesday and as such, has little to no fantasy value at this stage in the season. Expect the Predators to go back to Rinne when the two teams meet Saturday in Nashville for Game 5.
Saros allowed four goals on 32 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday. The 23-year-old came into the night having won three of the last four and posted a shutout in his last start. But Saros had been sidelined since then because of an illness, and he wasn't particularly sharp coming back. Keep in mind he was also facing a team battling for its playoff life while the Predators have already clinched a spot. Saros is 17-8-2 with a 2.58 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 31 games this season.
Saros led his team out onto the ice Saturday against Columbus, suggesting he's over his illness and will start the contest in net, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Saros' illness didn't last long, as his last outing was a March 25 shutout win over the Wild. The backup netminder will likely have his hands full on the second night of a back-to-back against a Blue Jackets team that's battling for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
Saros (illness) will not take the ice for Friday's game against the Penguins, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports. With Saros out, Pekka Rinne will presumably fill the crease, while recall Troy Grosenick will serve as the backup. Coming off a 29-save shutout against the Wild on Monday, Saros will aim to return as soon as Saturday versus the Blue Jackets.
Saros is dealing with an illness, but he still practiced ahead of Friday's game against the Penguins, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Saros' ailment isn't considered serious, but the Predators are on the road and the team has called up Troy Grosenick as insurance. More clarity on this item should surface closer to the 7:00 p.m. ET puck drop.
