Joseph played in all four Tampa Bay playoff games against Columbus and finished with four shots and a minus-2 rating in limited ice time. He only played 8:21 in Game 4 on Tuesday, but did see 12:14 in Game 3. Joseph wasn't exactly noticeable on the ice, but that actually was a good thing. The rookie who delivered 26 points in 70 games held his own against the Blue Jackets. Joseph could take a step forward next season, especially if there are some changes to the Bolts' roster.
Joseph delivered two assists Tuesday in a 5-2 win over the Jets. He did it in just 9:45 of ice time. Joseph also finished plus-2 with a minor penalty. He has 22 points in 56 games this season and his speed, skill and tenacity make him a great bottom-six fit on the Bolts. Joseph has some value in the deepest of formats and could be a 40-45 point winger in the future.
Joseph was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday. The Lightning demoted defenseman Jan Rutta in a corresponding move. Joseph has reemerged with the parent club after news broke that Brayden Point missed a team meeting and sat out the most recent game for disciplinary reasons. Selected by the Bolts in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2015 draft, Joseph has accrued 13 goals and seven helpers through 51 games as a rookie, which is quite amazing for a winger averaging 11:30 of ice time.
The Lightning sent Joseph back to AHL Syracuse on Tuesday. Joseph's demotion is mainly the result of him not requiring waivers in order to be sent down. The move also opened up a roster spot for the team to recall Jan Rutta from the minors with Victor Hedman (lower body) unavailable Tuesday. Considering his fairly strong impression at the top level -- notching 20 points in 51 games -- there's a decent chance he will rejoin the top club in short order.
The Lightning recalled Joseph from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday. Joseph was sent to the minors in order to make room for Jan Rutta on the roster, but with Eric Cernak (lower body) considered a possibility for Thursday's game against the Stars, Tampa Bay is no longer in need of Rutta's services as a depth defender. Joseph, who's notched 20 points in 48 appearances this season, will return to a bottom-six role against Dallas.
