  • The Maple Leafs assigned Kaskisuo to AHL Toronto on Saturday. This could be a sign that Frederik Andersen (illness) will return for Monday's game versus the Avalanche, especially since AHL Toronto doesn't have a game until Jan. 19. Kaskisuo still hasn't appeared in a game for the Maple Leafs this season since Michael Hutchinson has been coach Mike Babcock's first option during Andersen's injuries.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Recalled again
    By RotoWire Staff

Kaskisuo was called up from AHL Toronto under emergency conditions Saturday. Frederik Andersen reportedly had a chance to return from a groin injury Saturday against the Bruins, but now he's bogged down by the flu, so Kaskisuo once again heads back to the top level. The Finn hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2015-16, therefore it would be rather brazen of Leafs coach Mike Babcock to play Kaskisuo over Michael Hutchinson while Andersen is out. For what it's worth, we expect Hutchinson to work between the pipes against the B's, but we'll circle back if that changes.

  • Kaskisuo was reassigned to AHL Toronto on Friday. Kaskisuo has been at the end of the organization's yo-yo string, moving to the NHL and back on several occasions, though he has yet to make his debut at the top level. At this juncture, his status depends solely on the health of Frederik Andersen (groin), who is holding out hope that he'll be able to return Saturday.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Called back up
    By RotoWire Staff

Kaskisuo, as expected, was recalled from AHL Toronto on Thursday. Kaskisuo will fill in as the backup behind Michael Hutchinson versus New Jersey on Thursday while Garret Sparks (concussion) and Frederik Andersen (groin) remain sidelined. In order to preserve cap space, Kaskisuo will almost certainly be headed back down to the minors following Thursday's tilt. If Andersen is healthy enough to serve as the No. 2 against Boston on Saturday, this could mark the last of Kaskisuo's time in the NHL this season.

  • Kaskisuo was sent down to AHL Toronto on Tuesday. Due to cap constraints, the Leafs can't simply keep Kaskisuo in the NHL, which means his demotion isn't an indication as to whether Frederik Andersen (groin) or Garret Sparks (concussion) will be available versus the Devils on Thursday. If neither guy can give it a go, Kaskisuo will be brought in to backup Michael Hutchinson.
