White has posted a shade under 14 minutes per game in the Senators' first two contests, scoring a goal and an assist so far. Ottawa is in no hurry with its 2015 first-rounder, and with the team looking down the road, the Senators are more concerned with letting him develop than seeing him post big numbers. His ice time is slightly up over the end of last season and he skated 22 shifts in the opening night loss to Chicago, so there's a chance he's starting to gain more trust from Guy Boucher.
White was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Wednesday. While plenty of the Senators regulars can go ahead and schedule that tee time on the golf course since the team missed the playoffs, White will join the top developmental affiliate as Belleville still has three games left in its regular season. Ottawa's 2015 first-round (21st overall) draft pick posted two goals and four assists through 21 games at the top level after getting a cup of coffee with the parent club last year.
White closed his season on a high note, providing an assist on both of his team's goals in a 5-2 loss to Boston on Saturday. White didn't provide much this season, but that can be said for a lot of Ottawa players this year. Finishing with two assists suggests that he's starting to adapt to the NHL level, and he might be a sleeper candidate next year if he starts the season in Ottawa instead of at AHL Belleville.
White was called up from AHL Belleville on an emergency basis Thursday. Marian Gaborik (undisclosed) is day-to-day ahead of the evening's home clash against the Panthers, and the Senators reassigned Ben Sexton to Belleville on Wednesday, so White could be in the lineup for the next contest. Lauded for his sound all-around game, the American pivot will look to build on his output of three points through 17 games at the highest level.
White was returned to AHL Belleville on Friday, Brent Wallace of TSN.ca reports. Max McCormick was called up in a corresponding move. White hasn't been useful in fantasy circles as the owner of just three points through 15 games, but then again, it would be difficult for most skaters to move the needle averaging just 12:37 of average ice time.
