  • Shesterkin allowed two goals on 31 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Blue Jackets on Sunday. Statistically, it was a good effort from the 24-year-old, but he didn't receive enough goal support to get the win. Shesterkin dropped to 2-1-0 with eight goals allowed on 112 shots in his first three career games. The Rangers are using a three-goalie rotation currently, so it's unclear when Shesterkin will get another chance in the crease.

  • Shesterkin will patrol the crease for Sunday's home game against the Blue Jackets, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. Shesterkin will make his third NHL start after watching from the sidelines for the last three contests. He won each of his first two starts, allowing six goals on a combined 81 shots. For now, it seems the Rangers are content using a three-man rotation in the net.

  • Shesterkin made 46 saves in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Devils. Shesterkin was sensational in this one, shutting the door after a controversial goal with the net off its moorings tied the game at 3-3 for the visitors in the second period. He's won a pair of fast-paced affairs to open his NHL career, allowing three goals apiece to the Avalanche and Devils but posting a .926 save percentage. Shesterkin has always been viewed as the superior goaltending prospect to Alexandar Georgiev, and with Henrik Lundqvist still playing well himself behind an abhorrent Rangers defense, the team may ultimately need to move Georgiev for defensive help. Shesterkin certainly isn't going anywhere given how comfortable he's looked at the top level after dominating the KHL and thriving in the AHL for half a season with a 15-4-3 record and .932 save percentage.

  • Shesterkin will get the starting nod against the Devils at home Thursday, per Brett Cyrgalis of the New York Post. Shesterkin stopped 29 of 32 shots in a win over Colorado in his NHL debut Tuesday and appears to be getting a second look in Thursday's tilt. At some point, the Rangers figure to go back to starter Henrik Lundqvist, but for now they seem set to ride the 23-year-old Russian for the time being.
