Liljegren was sent down to AHL Toronto on Saturday. Liljegren made his season debut in Saturday's game versus the Blackhawks. The Maple Leafs recalled Liljegren from AHL Toronto on Tuesday. Liljegren has made frequent trips between the AHL and the parent club throughout the season, but he's still awaiting his debut with the Maple Leafs. Unless one of the six other defensemen on the roster is dealing with an unreported injury, Liljegren looks like he'll be in the press box again for Tuesday's game against New Jersey.
The Maple Leafs reassigned Liljegren to AHL Toronto on Monday. Liljegren was with the big club for less than six hours before reverting to the bus league. Teemu Kivihalme was also called up Monday and appears on track to stick with the Leafs for Tuesday's road game against the Wild, while Liljegren will suit up for the minor-league squad Tuesday.
Liljegren was promoted from AHL Toronto on Monday. Liljegren served as a healthy scratch in each of his previous four appearances on the 23-man roster and will likely do so again versus Minnesota on Tuesday. If the Swede does get into the lineup, it would likely be at the expense of Justin Holl. In the minors, the 20-year-old has racked up three goals and 14 helpers in 27 contests and could make his NHL debut soon.
The Maple Leafs loaned Liljegren to AHL Toronto on Sunday. Liljegren made a brief appearance with the big club after he was recalled by the team Saturday. The 2017 first-round pick still has yet to make his NHL debut, and has 17 points in 27 AHL games this campaign. His demotion leaves just six healthy defensemen on the roster.
