Luff (illness) is set to return to the lineup Saturday versus the Lightning, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Luff missed four contests, though it's unclear if all were due to the illness. He'll play on the fourth line Saturday, while Eeli Tolvanen is set to be a healthy scratch.

Luff is dealing with a non-COVID illness and won't be an option against Edmonton on Thursday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. In order to avoid having to use seven defensemen, the Predators called up Cody Glass to replace Luff in the lineup. For his part, the 24-year-old Luff has played in 21 games for Nashville this season in which he generated three goals, three assists and 24 shots while averaging just 9:12 of ice time. Even once cleared to play, Luff is far from a lock for the lineup on a nightly basis and may still have to serve as a healthy scratch periodically.

Luff scored twice, added an assist and went plus-4 in Saturday's 8-0 win over the Sharks. It was a career night for the Predators' fourth-liners, as Luff, Michael McCarron and Philip Tomasino combined for four goals and 10 points. Luff has played in the Predators' last five games, but he went scoreless in the previous four since his Feb. 21 recall from AHL Milwaukee. Saturday's performance doubled his season point total to six in 15 contests, and he's added 16 shots on net, 21 hits and a plus-4 rating.

Luff was elevated from the minors Monday. Luff will switch places with Cole Smith, who was sent down to the minors in a corresponding move. With Nick Cousins (lower body) dealing with an injury, Luff could immediately step into the lineup versus Florida on Tuesday. In his previous 10 appearances for the Preds this year, the 24-year-old Luff has tallied one goal on eight shots, two assists and 13 hits while averaging just 8:57 of ice time.

Luff was assigned to AHL Milwaukee on Friday. Nashville's next game isn't until Tuesday versus Vancouver, and Luff could be back on the active roster or with the taxi squad prior to that contest. He's picked up three points through 10 top-level appearances this year.
