  • Canucks' Michael DiPietro: Sent back to junior
    By RotoWire Staff

DiPietro was reassigned to OHL's Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday. The youngster was recalled Feb. 4 on an emergency basis due to Thatcher Demko (knee) and Jacob Markstrom (lower body) out. DiPietro had a forgettable NHL debut Monday, surrendering seven goals on just 24 shots against San Jose. The 19-year-old will likely spend the rest of the season in junior, because he's unable to play in the AHL due to league rules.

  • Canucks' Michael DiPietro: Forgettable NHL debut
    By RotoWire Staff

DiPietro gave up seven goals on 24 shots in a 7-2 loss to the Sharks on Monday. Starting in place of Jacob Markstrom (lower body), DiPietro gave up three goals in the first period. It didn't get better from there, spoiling his NHL debut. Markstrom is expected to be ready by Wednesday's game against the Ducks. If Markstrom can't go, DiPietro may be in line for another start, as the Canucks' regular backup, Thatcher Demko, is out with a knee injury.

  • DiPietro is set to make his NHL debut in Monday's contest against San Jose, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports. The 19-year-old DiPietro was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft and has been stellar in the OHL for the last four seasons. He gets his shot after fellow rookie Thatcher Demko (knee) landed on injured reserve last week. DiPietro has a bright future, but may not be a great fantasy play against a tough Sharks squad.

  • Canucks' Michael DiPietro: Recalled by Vancouver
    By RotoWire Staff

DiPietro will join the NHL roster Tuesday in Washington. Backup netminder Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) was injured in warmups prior to Monday's game in Philadelphia, so DiPietro will be an emergency call-up. He likely won't see any NHL action during his stint and will back up Jacob Markstrom.

  • DiPietro stopped 23 of 25 shots in Canada's 2-1 quarterfinal loss to Finland at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship on Wednesday. It was a heartbreaking result for both DiPietro and the Canadians in their home country. The Vancouver prospect was brilliant all game long before an unfortunate bounce tied the game for the Finns with 47 seconds left and a deflected shot beat him with just under five minutes remaining in overtime. The 2017 third-rounder finishes the tournament with a 1.23 GAA and .952 save percentage in four contests. Recently traded from OHL Windsor to Ottawa, DiPietro will now return to finish his season with the league-leading 67's.
