The Blue Jackets sent Johnson to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports. The 27-year-old, who's never made an NHL appearance, rejoins the Monsters two days after being added to the Blue Jackets' taxi squad. It would likely take multiple injuries or COVID-19 infections on the NHL roster for Johnson to get a call-up this season.

Johnson was reassigned to the taxi squad Monday. Johnson's demotion to the taxi squad could be an indication Joonas Korpisalo (lower body) will be ready to serve as at least the backup against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, though Johnson could still be moved back to the active roster if necessary.

  • Blue Jackets' Cameron Johnson: Shifts back to taxi squad

Johnson was reassigned to the taxi squad Tuesday. Johnson's demotion could just be a procedural move with the Jackets off until Thursday's clash with Chicago, though it could also be an indication either Matiss Kivlenieks (lower body) or Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) is ready to at least serve as the No. 2 behind Joonas Korpisalo.

Johnson was promoted to the taxi squad from the minors Monday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.
