  • Sandstrom signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers on Monday. Sandstrom can make up to $750,000 if he spends the season with the big club, but he'll likely work primarily in the AHL as franchise depth in net in 2021-22. This deal supersedes the contract Sandstrom had signed to play in Finland earlier this month.

  • Sandstrom penned a one-year contract with TPS Turk (Finland) on Monday, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports. Considering the Flyers have just one netminder currently under contract next season -- Carter Hart will be a restricted free agent -- it comes as a little surprise to see Sandstrom decide to move overseas rather than competing for a roster spot in Philadelphia. Per Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Flyers will issue a qualifying offer to Sandstrom in the offseason in order to retain his NHL rights.

  • Sandstrom was promoted to the taxi squad Thursday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Sandstrom will likely serve as an emergency depth option for the Flyers' final three games of the season, though with no playoffs in their future, the club could opt to give the 24-year-old netminder his NHL debut. Sandstrom is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason, and giving him a chance to play at the NHL level could help the organization determine whether to stick with him for another year or two.
