Suomela scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Suomela added three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in arguably his best outing of the year. The Finn now has a goal and six helpers through 17 contests. He's no lock for the lineup at this stage in his young career, but Tuesday's burst of offense should give the 25-year-old center at least a temporary advantage over Alex True for playing time.
Suomela (undisclosed) is expected to play Thursday against New Jersey. Suomela exited Monday's game against the Panthers with an undisclosed issue, but whatever forced him from that contest clearly wasn't overly serious. The 25-year-old Finn will skate on San Jose's fourth line against the Devils.
Suomela (undisclosed) left Monday's game against the Panthers and will not return. The Sharks announced that Suomela was still being evaluated but the injury was enough to prevent him from returning. There should be an update on his status in the coming days before Thursday's game in New Jersey.
Suomela was recalled from AHL San Jose on Thursday. Suomela will travel a familiar path at this point, having been jostled between the NHL and AHL multiple times in the past few weeks. His last stint with the club resulted in Suomela drawing in for just one game and supplying two hits over 13:07 of ice time, so there's not much fantasy upside to him at the moment.
The Sharks reassigned Suomela to AHL San Jose on Friday. The Sharks don't play again until Monday against Calgary, so although he'll head to the minors for the weekend, Suomela will almost certainly be back with the big club prior to that contest.
