Farabee penned a six-year, $30 million deal with the Flyers on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. The contract starts in the 2022-23 season. Farabee is coming off a great sophomore showing that featured 20 goals and 38 points. His shooting percentage is bound to fall from the bloated 16.4 mark he posted last year, but the 2018 No. 14 overall pick has plenty of pedigree and will likely only improve further in his age-22 season and beyond. Further positioning him for success, Farabee is slated for a top-six role while manning the point on one of the power-play units, as well, so a trip to the 60-point plateau should be well within striking distance over a full 82-game campaign.
Farabee scored two goals in Monday's 4-2 win over the Devils. His two tallies bookended the scoring for the Flyers. Farabee got hot once the calendar flipped to May, scoring five goals and seven points over the last six games, and on the season the second-year forward racked up 20 goals and 38 points in 55 games.
Farabee had a goal and two assists with four shots in Monday's 7-2 win over the Penguins. He also had two PIM and a plus-3 rating. Farabee closed out the month of April without a point in his final six games, but he's off to a quick start in May with four points in his first two contests. His goal at 11:37 of the third period snuffed out a mini-rally by the Penguins, making it a 5-2 game. He also registered assists on goals by Kevin Hayes and Robert Hagg. The 21-year-old Farabee has 17 goals and 18 assists in 51 games this season.
Farabee scored a power-play goal on three shots and dished out a pair of hits Tuesday in a 4-3 loss to the Devils. Farabee got the Flyers on the board 12:43 into the opening period, digging a puck out from under the pad of MacKenzie Blackwood and sliding it home for his team-leading 14th goal of the year. Not much has gone right for the Flyers in March, but Farabee's continued sophomore production has certainly been a bright spot. The 20-year-old now has 26 points in 30 games.
Farabee scored his 13th goal of the season in a 6-1 loss to the Islanders on Saturday. Farabee's tally was the lone bright spot on an otherwise dismal night for the Flyers. The 20-year-old led a 2-on-1 rush late in the second period and wired a shot past Ilya Sorokin from the right faceoff circle, Farabee's only shot on goal of the game, to get Philadelphia on the board. Farabee continues to build on last year's solid rookie showing, producing 25 points in 28 games while more than doubling his shooting percentage from 9.9 to 19.4.
