  • Martin (undisclosed) will be assigned to AHL San Jose for a conditioning stint, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic Bay Area reports. The veteran blueliner missed 24 games due to an ankle injury before returning to action Thursday against the Hurricanes, so a move to the minors to play himself back into game shape makes sense. The Sharks should release another update on Martin's status once he's recalled to the big club.

  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Back in action Thursday
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin (ankle) will rejoin the lineup for Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports. Martin has missed all but the first two games of 2017-18 due to an ankle issue and another undisclosed ailment. However, the blueliner appears finally ready to retake his spot in the lineup. Even before the injury, Martin didn't see a ton of ice time as far as defensemen go and he wasn't a member of the man advantage. He did notch 26 points last season despite the limited power-play action, however, proving he can still provide some offensive output.

  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Expected to play Thursday
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin (ankle) is slated to return to the lineup against the Hurricanes on Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Although Martin has not officially been activated off injured reserve, all signs indicate he will resume his spot on the blue line. The defenseman has missed the Sharks' previous 24 games, having appeared in just the opening two contests of the year. The Minnesota native will almost certainly be paired with Brent Burns as he has been throughout his time in San Jose.

Martin (ankle) will sit out Monday's game in Washington but could play Thursday against Carolina, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports. The report also stated that Martin would have returned to game action by now if not for having suffered a setback during an off-ice workout two weeks ago. San Jose will give additional updates ahead of Thursday's contest, and if he's able to go, longtime partner Brent Burns -- who's had all sorts of trouble putting the puck in the net this year -- will welcome him back with open arms.

  • Sharks' Paul Martin: Traveling with team
    By RotoWire Staff

Martin (undisclosed) will travel with the Sharks on their upcoming road trip, Curtis Pashelka of The Mercury News reports. San Jose is on the road for its next four games, and it seems unlikely the Sharks would bring Martin along if they didn't expect him to play at some point. The veteran has only played in two games this season due to a couple separate injury issues.
