Letang recorded two assists, five shots and a plus-4 rating during Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Senators. After marking the scoresheet in five of 17 games since returning from a lower-body injury Jan. 2, this was a welcomed breakout showing from the veteran defenseman. Letang now has a respectable 33 points, 158 shots and 48 PIM through 55 games, and Tuesday's strong game improved him to a close-to-manageable minus-11 for the campaign. A strong finish to the season is within reach.
Letang has zero points in his last five games, and he has only four points in his last 17 contests. Letang made an All-Star team, but that was by reputation more than performance. The Canadian has only three goals and 28 points in 48 games, and most of that came early in the year. Fantasy owners will have to hope he regains his form after the All-Star break ends.
Letang recorded a goal and an assist in a 6-5 overtime victory over the Bruins on Sunday. Coming into Sunday, there probably wasn't a preseason top fantasy defensemen in need of a goal more than Letang. He hadn't scored since Dec. 7, going his last 10 games with just two assists. Letang appears to be finally finding his game, though, and could be on his way to the third 50-point campaign in the last four seasons.
Letang (lower body) will suit up against the Flyers on Tuesday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Letang's reintroduction to the lineup comes after a three-game stint on the sidelines. The oft-injured defenseman technically still needs to be activated off injured reserve, but the team made the necessary roster moves Monday in order to clear space under the 23-man limit. Based on the game-day skate, the veteran will resume his spot on the power play -- a role in which he has tallied 14 of his 25 points.
Letang (lower body) is with the Penguins in Carolina, despite initial reports he would not make the trip, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Letang -- who has already been ruled out against the Hurricanes on Friday -- was slated for a mid-week return, according to general manager Jim Rutherford, which could have him available in time for the last contest of the club's three-game road trip. A fierce competitor, the blueliner is no doubt motivated to get back into the lineup in time for the clash with the rival Flyers on Tuesday.
