Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Heads to KHL

Vitali Kravtsov will play for the Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL during the 2020-21 season, Corey Pronman of The Athletic reports. While Kravtsov will begin the year in Russia, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today adds that the New York Rangers reserve the right to recall him at any point. The 2018 first-round pick (ninth overall) has yet to make his NHL debut, and he wasn't especially dominant with AHL Hartford last year, posting 15 points through 39 games. Perhaps the change of scenery can allow the 20-year-old to regain his confidence before trying to make the Rangers the following season.

Mercogliano of USA Today reports.Kravtsov registered six goals and nine helpers in 39 games with AHL Hartford this season and figures to use the upcoming postseason as a way to break into the 23-man roster for the upcoming 2020-21 campaign. Selected by the organization with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, the 20-year-old winger figures to make his NHL debut sooner rather than later.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Playing better in AHL

Vitali Kravtsov picked up a pair of assists in AHL Hartford's 7-4 victory over Springfield on Wednesday.Kravtsov now has six points in his last eight games. They might not be overwhelming numbers, but the Russian has played considerably better since his return to Hartford in late December following a brief stint in the KHL. The New York Rangers are dangling multiple players with the trade deadline approaching and it seems quite likely Kravtsov will spend the later portion of the season in the NHL.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Returns to AHL lineup

Vitali Kravtsov picked up an assist in his return to the lineup for AHL Hartford on Tuesday.Kravtsov returned to play in the KHL in late October before heading back to North America just days ago. He hadn't played a game for the Wolf Pack in more than two months. He began the night on the fourth line before being moved up late in a game in which Hartford was being blown out. His awkward start to the season aside, Kravtsov remains one of the game's elite offensive prospects and it's more likely then not he gets games with the New York Rangers late in the season.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Returning from Russia

Vitali Kravtsov is leaving the KHL and will rejoin the New York Rangers organization.Kravtsov started the year with AHL Hartford, appearing in five games and notching one assist. After just 11 contests with KHL Chelyabinsk, it appears the 2018 ninth-overall pick is coming back to North America. The 19-year-old will likely start back with the Wolf Pack but could earn a call-up before too long.

Vitali Kravtsov secured a contract with Chelyabinsk of the KHL on Friday, Larry Brooks for The New York Post reports. After just five games in the AHL, Kravtsov will return to the KHL with Chelyabinsk. Per the conditions of his entry-level deal, the 19-year-old was free to move back to Russia after the club sent him down to the minors. If the winger can put together a solid season in the KHL, he could get a longer look in training camp ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Surprise scratch Sunday

Vitali Kravtsov was a healthy scratch for AHL Hartford in their 4-3 overtime victory over Bridgeport on Sunday.Kravtsov made it through Saturday's season opening win over Charlotte without issue, but the team elected to have him spend Sunday's contest in the press box. This doesn't appear to be a major issue at the moment as Kravtsov is apparently healthy, but the decision to have a 19-year-old top prospect sit out his club's second game of the season is a bit baffling.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Dropped to minors

Vitali Kravtsov was sent down to AHL Hartford on Monday.Kravtsov signed with the New York Rangers in the offseason in the hopes of earning a spot on the 23-man roster. In the KHL last year, the 19-year-old notched 21 points in 50 appearances. If he can transition his game to the North American style of play, the winger likely won't have to spend the entire year in the minors.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Productive against other prospects

Vitali Kravtsov potted a pair of power-play goals in Monday's 4-3 win over Minnesota at the prospect tournament in Traverse City.Kravtsov showed excellent chemistry with fellow top prospect Kaapo Kakko, who assisted on both of Kravtsov's tallies, which came on a five-minute major. The ninth overall selection from the 2018 draft is drawing less fanfare than Kaako, but Kravtsov will likely make the New York Rangers' roster as well and should open the season in a middle-six role.

Rangers' Vitali Kravtsov: Signs entry-level contract

Vitali Kravtsov signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New York Rangers on Friday.Kravtsov spent the 2018-19 campaign in his native Russia skating for Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL, notching eight goals and 21 points in 50 games. The 2018 first-round pick will likely need some time to adapt to the North American brand of hockey, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him start the 2019-20 season in the minors.
