Eriksson had some very good seasons in the NHL, surpassing the 70-point mark on three occasions with Dallas early in his career. He played last season with Arizona, where the 36-year-old had three goals and 19 points in 73 games. He returns home to his native Sweden to finish out his career.

Eriksson has just one season remaining on his albatross of a six-year, $36 million deal, and the Coyotes aren't in a position to compete in 2021-22, so they've essentially decided to take on several ugly short-term contracts while sending Garland and Ekman-Larsson to Vancouver in order to acquire the ninth overall pick in Friday evening's draft. Eriksson appeared in just seven games with the Canucks last season, tallying one helper over that span, and it isn't clear if he'll have a regular role with Arizona next year.
