The soap opera involving WNBA stars and newlyweds Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson has taken another shocking twist with the announcement that the former has filed to annul their 29-day marriage.

Griner claimed that the two had discussed and agreed to call it quits. But Johnson has expressed through agent D.J. Fisher that she was "extremely hurt and blindsided" by the news.

In a statement released Friday, Griner confirmed that she had filed for the annulment. She added that she had attempted to postpone the wedding several times as she was undergoing counseling, but decided to go through with it. "I now realize that was a mistake," she added.

Johnson, who is pregnant, did appear stunned by the filing if her Friday Instagram post is any indication. She wrote about her excitement to be reunited with her wife and used #NewAdditionTotheFamily# as a hashtag.

"She loves Brittney and made a huge sacrifice to carry a child, put her career on hold, invest in their relationship and their future," Fisher said.

The latest development complicates what has already been a tumultuous relationship. Both were arrested on domestic violence charges in mid-April after a battle in their home. Griner was forced to enter a diversion program and receive a half-year of counseling. Johnson's case is still pending. Both players were suspended for seven games by the WNBA after their arrests.
