WATCH: Serena Williams on playing Andy Murray: 'I'd lose 6-0, 6-0'

Reigning U.S. Open champion Serena Williams appeared on Thursday's Late Show with David Letterman and said that, if given the opportunity, she would get smoked by Andy Murray.

"If I were to play Andy Murray, I would lose 6-0, 6-0 in five to six minutes, maybe 10 minutes," Williams said (at about 5:45 of video). "No, it’s true. It’s a completely different sport."

All this talk began earlier in the summer, when Murray said that he would be willing to face Williams in an exhibition match -- preferably in Vegas.

"I've never hit with her, but she's obviously an incredible player and I think people would be interested to see the men play against the women to see how the styles match up," Murray said in June. "It has happened in the past with Jimmy Connors and Martina Navratilova. How about Las Vegas as a venue?”

Williams' explanation is simple: Men's and women's tennis are different games, and she'd rather stick with her sport.

"I only want to play girls, because I don’t want to be embarrassed," she said. "I would not do the tour, I would not do Billie Jean [King] any disservice. So Andy, stop it. I’m not going to let you kill me."
