Donald Trump is the Skip Bayless of rich people: He likes to make noise about certain subjects just to rile people up. And he did just that on Sunday night while tweeting about Pinehurst's look during the 2014 US Open.
Trump claimed the "horrible look" at No. 2 will equate to "poor" TV ratings.
I'd bet the horrible look of Pinehurst translates into poor television ratings. This is not what golf is about!

The reality of this year's championship is it probably won't end up with good ratings.
But it's got nothing to do with the way Pinehurst looks. It's about Martin Kaymer storming away with the tournament, waltzing to a victory at Pinehurst after expanding his lead on Sunday. (And, if Kaymer were to somehow completely melt down late Sunday it would equal really good ratings.)
Trump owns several golf courses and clearly wants to own a course where majors are hosted. He knows a thing or two about golf.
But his lack of historical perspective and resulting comments in discussing the way Pinehurst looks is in poor taste. And pretty typical.
