After a long trip to Japan, many PGA Tour players are taking the week off, leaving a huge opportunity for an unknown to win the 2021 Bermuda Championship. The event tees off Thursday at Port Royal Golf Club, and the 2021 Bermuda Championship field features golfers like the European Tour's Matt Fitzpatrick and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, former Masters champions Patrick Reed and Danny Willett, and young Korn Ferry graduates like Mito Pereira and Stephan Jaeger. Fitzpatrick is the 14-1 favorite in the latest 2021 Bermuda Championship odds from Caesars Sportsbook, with Bezuidenhout the second choice at 16-1. Reed and Pereira are listed at 22-1, while Willett (40-1) and Jaeger (50-1) are notable long shots.

Will Reed take advantage of the watered-down field and contend for his 10th PGA Tour victory? Or will a player like Pereira contend for a first and put you in perfect position to win with your 2021 Bermuda Championship Fantasy golf picks? Before locking in 2021 Bermuda Championship Fantasy golf lineups, be sure to see the projections and analysis from proven Fantasy expert Riley Gates.

At last week's Zozo Championship, five of Gates' top 13 golfers finished in the top 10, including Hideki Matsuyama, who won the event in his native country. The 29-year-old trailed by one with eight holes to play but finished with a 65 and a five-stroke victory.

"It is tough to not look at a hometown hero like Matsuyama and feel good about him in his element," Gates said before the 2021 Masters champ stormed back on Sunday.

Now, Gates has locked in his top 20 golfers for the Bermuda Championship 2021. You can only see his Fantasy golf picks and rankings at SportsLine

Gates is backing Fitzpatrick for a strong showing at Port Royal this week. The 27-year-old hasn't won on the PGA Tour, but he has seven victories on the European Tour. That includes a three-stroke victory at the Andalucia Masters two weeks ago at Valderrama. He has played well in windy conditions, winning twice in Dubai and twice in Switzerland, and he is short off the tee but hits it straight. He was 127th in driving distance but 17th in accuracy last season, and he won't be at a disadvantage with the doglegs at Port Royal requiring longer hitters to dial it back.

On the flip side, Gates is fading Pereira this week because of his fading results. The young Chilean star started the season with a third-place finish at the Fortinet Championship but has faltered to T-31 and T-40 in his past two tournaments. He won three Korn Ferry events last season to earn automatic promotion, but this is just his 10th tour start and he appears to be taking some time to adjust. Putting has been an issue for him, as he ranks 199th in strokes gained and 243rd in overall average.
