British Open Round 3 in photos, stats, and tweets
All the stats, tweets, and commentary you can handle on the third round of the 2014 Open from Hoylake.
In case you missed anything at the British Open on Saturday I live blogged the entire thing. Here are all the GIFs, tweets, stats, and commentary you missed. And if you slept in you probably missed all of it.
Let's get to the action.
10:40 a.m. -- Okay that's all for me. All that's left on Sunday is the coronation for Rory (or the monstrous meltdown). Hope you guys have a good Saturday (you have most of it left).
10:39 a.m. -- Your final pairing on Sunday is going to be Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy.
10:25 a.m. -- The most drama we'll have on Sunday is whether or not Rory will let Graeme McDowell drink from the Claret Jug..
10:11 a.m. -- Wow. Rory McIlroy eagles No. 16 and that might be the dagger. Impressive stuff.
10:08 a.m. -- Rory is struttin' again. He has a 25-footer for eagle at No. 16 and Fowler just made bogey.
9:41 a.m. -- Wow.
9:39 a.m. -- Can I retract my earlier statement that I'd like to see Sergio and Rory in the final pairing? I'd actually like to see Rickie and Rory.
9:18 a.m. -- Pretty subtle here:
Pretty tough for Rickie to not see where he stands here. pic.twitter.com/5AP5sCbIQ0— Adam Sarson (@Adam_Sarson) July 19, 2014
9:16 a.m. -- Fowler and Rory are tied. Wow.
9:13 a.m. -- Look at how many countries are represented in the top 10 of the tournament!
9:00 a.m. -- This is pretty crazy. Lots of golf left but Fowler looking like a good bet to get here:

8:35 a.m. -- Tiger birdies No. 1. He could have used that about 24 hours ago.
8:18 a.m. -- The hottest of hot takes.
Someone on PGA Tour radio just called in and compared putting Tiger on the Ryder Cup team to putting Duval on the team. #ScaldingHotTake— No Laying Up (@NoLayingUp) July 19, 2014
8:13 a.m. -- Awesome.
ICYMI: John Singleton, the factory worker, birdied 3 of last 4 holes Friday. Left eagle putt on 18 short because tears were streaming.— Beth Ann Nichols (@GolfweekNichols) July 19, 2014
8:12 a.m. -- DJ is coming undone about 22 holes sooner than usual. I like to imagine what Dan Jenkins is saying to his TV right now.
7:59 a.m. -- Monster par save from Rory at No. 7 to stay at 12 under. Basically played the hole just like Fowler did but made his putt.
7:46 a.m. -- It's pretty nuts that this would be Nike's first Tiger/Rory major since Tiger won the 2008 US Open.
7:30 a.m. -- Somebody just screamed "get in the hole" when Fowler teed off on a par 4. Scott Van Pelt: "That's ambitious, it's 480 yards long."
7:24 a.m. -- If we think Rory is going to be in the final group on Sunday, who do we want him to be paired with? I think I'm Sergio, Fowler, and DJ in that order. I could be talked into Schwartzel, maybe.
7:03 a.m. -- Well this is awesome:
Rory McIlroy once went to Bob Torrance. Bob watched Rory hit shots & said "I can’t improve on that.” Refused to work with him. #TheOpen— Alistair Tait (@GolfweekTait) July 19, 2014
7:00 a.m. -- I agree with the ESPN guys, it doesn't feel like Saturday at a major. I think it's the two-tee start.
6:50 a.m. -- I think this is a little bit unfair for this week, no? How many of those had four-shot leads after 36 holes?
Here’s an interesting stat: since 1990, 70% of second round leaders in majors have not gone on to win. #TheOpen— Alistair Tait (@GolfweekTait) July 19, 2014
6:30 a.m. -- This is really interesting:
6:21 a.m. -- DJ gets within two which is great. We need a fun major this season.
6:16 a.m. -- Rory bogeys No. 1, DJ has a kick-in, Tiger birdies No. 10. Drama to start. Well, minus the Tiger thing..even though you know folks are trying to talk themselves into him being within 12.
6:07 a.m. -- Because I can:
6:06 a.m. -- Tiger and Rory are off in the final group! Oh...they're on different tees..wait..dang.
5:49 a.m. -- I love Mike Tirico saying basically "well...if you want to catch Tiger you can go online and watch our Tiger channel because we won't be showing him on TV."
5:40 a.m. -- Seems dicey during the third round of a major!
5:21 a.m. -- Does anyone choke up on his irons as much as Victor Dubuisson? Maybe Fowler sometimes?
5:18 a.m. -- Let me be the 500th person to say how much I love the Pro Tracer thing on the ESPN broadcast. I want it on every drive and fairway shot.
Like this (via Adam Sarson):
5:16 a.m. -- Two-gloves Phil Mickelson is my favorite Phil Mickelson.
