Fans will choose pin placement for hole at PGA Championship
The PGA of America is going to let you have your say in how the 2013 PGA Championship ends, and that's a pretty cool gesture.
Well, this is certainly different:
PGA of America will let fans pick hole location at No. 15 in PGA Championship final round. Rock the vote, people: Put it in a bunker.— Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelGC) July 23, 2013
Can you imagine this happening at the Masters, US Open, or British Open?
Like, I don't see a bunch of R&A guys sitting around talking about the upcoming tournament and one of them piping up saying "you know what would be mighty fine, my lads? If we let the good blokes of Scotland choose a spot for our pins to be placed on Sunday at the Open!"
That will never happen. I would bet my job, my house, and a year of paychecks on it.
The PGA is doing it though and it will make for an interesting Sunday on Twitter. "I told you guys I was going to take Tiger Woods out of this thing with that back left placement. Dude can't hit a draw to save his life!"
Here's a link where you can look at all four of the options for voting and actually, you know, go ahead and vote.
All jokes aside, this is a pretty cool thing -- especially for the Sunday of a major.
