Grading Dustin Johnson and the Tournament of Champions
The tournament isn't over yet, but we have grades for the 36-hole marathon that took place on Monday.

Eye on Golf brings you the best golfers, craziest shots, worst attire, and more from the day that was on the PGA Tour.
The big righty was nothing but money in 36 grueling holes at Kapalua on Monday. The closing nine of his second round was a thing of dreams. He carded a 32 (par 37), and that was with a bogey.
Johnson is leading the field in driving distance (307 yards!) and looks to close what would be the seventh win of his PGA Tour career and third 54-hole tournament win.
|Steve Stricker in Hawaii||
Death, taxes and Steve Stricker performing well at the Tournament of Champions. The 45-year-old veteran compiled a tasty -8 score today while hobbling around for 36 holes on a leaky back.
He hasn't finished lower than T10 at this tournament in each of his last three appearances.
Stricker also dropped the shot of the day on No. 18.
All three guys using the new driver this weekend are inside the top 10: Dustin Johnson (No. 1), John Huh and Johnson Wagner (both T10). Apparently you also have to have the name "John" in your name to use it.
Dustin Johnson even gave TaylorMade a little shout out after his round,
I'm pretty pleased with my equipment. I'm pretty pleased with my game right now.
And no reason to not link this again.
It feels like I'm screaming to the world during the 7th inning stretch of my no-hitter, but I need to remind you of something:
In my first Eye on Golf expert picks ever, I picked Dustin Johnson as the winner of this tournament.
I told my editor last night I'll never pick a tournament again if Johnson wins. Of course I also gave you "Bubba Watson will finish outside the top four" as a prop bet. He's currently in third, four off the pace.
|Tuesday final round||I'm torn on this one. It's fun for bloggers and people who choose to use some early 2013 vacation time, but bad for the sport in general. Hawaii (and the west coast swing in general) is a great way to get golf some primetime love and the weather bump to Tuesday morning -- in the midst of the national title aftermath, no less! -- is not ideal.|
|Weather||It wasn't perfect (by Hawaii standards) but compared to the weekend it was an A+. Winds were still whipping though -- at one point Charlie Beljan flipped his visor around so it wouldn't blow off -- but they were playable at least, which is about all you can ask for at this point.|
|Kyle Stanley's shoes||Stanley's new Nike kicks looked like they fell out of Deion Sanders' mid-90s football locker. Here's a decent look. I don't ask for a lot from my golf attire, but what I do ask is that we don't look like we're playing the NFC Championship in Hawaii at the beginning of January.|
