"Amy Bockerstette became the first athlete with Down syndrome to play in the state golf tournament," AZCentral sports' Scott Bordow said as he presented the award at ASU's Gammage Auditorium.
"I had so much fun," Bockerstette said in her speech. "I have so much to thank. AIA for letting me play with a caddie, coach Matt and my family and everyone at O'Connor High School. Go Eagles! This has been so awesome. I love it. Thank you."
