For the first two days of the Barclays, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will be playing together, pitting the two biggest names in the game of golf right now in the same group for 36 holes. It won't be the first time the two have played together in competition, but you could argue that it is the first time both are playing in the same group with things clicking, as Tiger comes in as the FedEx Cup points leader while Rory is coming off his second major championship win.
So how have the two faired in the past when grouped? Let us take a look.
2010 Memorial Day Skins Game -- Sure, it was an exhibition, but Tiger and Rory were paired together for Jack Nicklaus' Wednesday Skins Game, and Woods reigned supreme thanks to a birdie-eagle-par-birdie start.
2010 Chevron World Challenge, second round -- After Tiger opened with a round of 65 and Rory opened with a 66, the two were paired together for the first time ever, but it was Tiger who got the best of Rory that day, firing a 66 to Rory's 70. Tiger would eventually get into a playoff with Graeme McDowell at his own event, losing to McDowell on the first playoff hole. McIlroy would finish alone in fourth, five shots back of the leaders.
2012 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, first round -- The first time Tiger and Rory were paired in a sanctioned event was this year's Abu Dhabi, where, along with Luke Donald, they brought the crowds to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. McIlroy shot a sizzling 67 to start while Tiger posted a respectable 70, but it wouldn't the last the two saw of each other here.
2012 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, second round -- Paired again, Rory couldn't find the magic he had on Thursday, posting 72, while Tiger got the best of him, posting 69 to tie Rory after 36 holes.
2012 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, third round -- Since both were paired together and tied after 36 holes, they got the third straight day of each other, where Tiger posted a 66 to Rory's 68. Tiger found himself in the final group on Sunday but couldn't get anything going, posting a 72 while Rory closed with a 69 to finish second alone to Robert Rock, a shot ahead of Tiger's 277 total.
2012 Honda Classic, final round -- They weren't paired together at the Honda, but they sure clashed, with Rory besting Tiger by two shots after Woods closed with a final round 62. McIlroy was solid all week, and the win there put him atop the world rankings, but it was Tiger's finish that had the golf world buzzing in hopes that these two meet again soon, and in a final round.
