Jason Allred playing Honda Classic just days after daughter's birth
New daughter Monday, golf tournament Thursday. Such is the life of a tour pro.
Jason Allred was in Arizona Monday as his wife gave birth to their daughter, the couple's third child. On Thursday, Allred will be in Florida competing in the Honda Classic.
"This was a good problem to have," Allred told The Golf Channel. "We both felt peaceful about it, but we were hoping so much that the baby would come early. Kim was taking long walks and eating spicy foods."
Allred, 33, was only able to squeeze in a few practice holes Tuesday after a cross-country flight, and with the tournament's pro-am Wednesday, he probably won't see the course again until his 1:25 p.m. ET tee time Thursday.
A small price to pay, of course, when paralleled with what Allred has going on at home.
"I love this game. I want to do so well at it. But it doesn't define who I am," he said. "I'm just going to embrace it and have fun with it."
