John Daly rarely does anything with any semblance of constraint and apparently his Diet Coke addiction is no different.

Daly outlined in this excellent Guardian article how he has cut back from 28 Diet Cokes a day to about a 12-pack because of a lap band procedure he had a few years ago.

"The band won't allow me to drink as many. If I don't have ice, I can't drink it. I can't have it straight because of the carbonation. I have to drink it slowly and not out of a can, I need some ice. I used to have 26-28 cans a day. Now I have 10-12 at the most."

He also said he bangs out about 40 heaters a day and said he's fit "for most people."

"I'm overweight and everything but we are all fit; we walk six or seven miles a day, that's plenty of exercise for most people," he says.

"Some guys want to do a little more cardio training; I can't see me being allowed to smoke a cigarette on a treadmill. I don't think they will let me into the gym if I do that. Will they?"

I doubt they will, John, I doubt they will.

Daly will have his regular Hooters setup going at the Masters this week.
