Lee Westwood is not a fan of US Open wicker baskets
Lee Westwood hit a wicker basket at Merion on Thursday and it cost him some strokes. He was not happy on Twitter afterwards but remained a good sport about it.
Lee Westwood was playing the par-4 No. 12 hole on Thursday when he struck the wicker basket on top of the pin. The ball careened off the front of the front of the green and Westwood went on to make double bogey.
After his round Westwood tweeted the following:
So much tradition at merion to talk about......like those delightful wicker baskets !— Lee Westwood (@WestwoodLee) June 14, 2013
Which was pretty funny, and his follow-up to this fan was even better:
@Kstupples you obviously can't lip read! There's a reason the rest of the world has moved onto flags !— Lee Westwood (@WestwoodLee) June 14, 2013
Westwood ended the day at 1 under.
Good times at Merion for all. I can't wait until these baskets come into play on Sunday and everybody freaks out about them.
